On May 5, Cripple Creek Mayor Dan Baader made a shocking announcement that he was stepping down as the town’s commander-in-chief. Tough economic times forced Baader to take a job in California. Elected in 2007, he was popular both politically and socially. Baader officially resigned during the regular session of City Council telling the audience, “It’s been a good ride. There’s no place on the planet like Cripple Creek.” Mayor Baader will be missed.
