“At Ameristar, we believe giving back to the community is the right thing to do,” said Andy Hamblen, senior vice president and general manager for Ameristar Casino Resort Spa Black Hawk. “We have an amazing group of team members. I am very proud of them and how they have helped our community.”
Ameristar Casinos, Inc., companywide, along with company and foundation matches, have pledged to generously contribute $1.3 million in local Ameristar communities through Ameristar’s 2010 Ameristar Cares Workplace Giving Campaign.
According to national studies, the average participation rate of employee workplace charitable campaigns is 35 percent. Across the company, Ameristar team member participation averaged 58 percent, and at every Ameristar location the participation rate exceeded the average participation rate.
“Ameristar team members have a history of giving generously, and Ameristar is a company that truly cares about people,” said Ray Neilsen chairman of the board. “My dad, Ameristar’s late founder, Chairman and CEO Craig H. Neilsen established a culture of giving at Ameristar. He believed in giving back to the communities in which we live and work both financially and through volunteerism.”
Through the in-house workplace giving program, team members from Ameristar properties are given the opportunity to contribute to a variety of local and community organizations. All donations made during this year’s workplace giving campaign are being matched 25-cents-on-the-dollar by Ameristar Casinos, Inc. In addition, The Craig H. Neilsen Foundation will provide an additional dollar-for-dollar match to contributions directed to designated spinal cord injury rehabilitation centers. Individual team member pledges totaled $881,500, which will grow to $1,333,000 with the matching funds.
“Participation in this year’s campaign is strong evidence of how enthusiastically our team members embrace this cultural value. The amount raised and the participation rate are direct reflections of the caring and generosity of our team members and their dedication to helping the communities in which we live and work,” said Gordon Kanofsky CEO and vice chairman.
