The Cripple Creek District Museum’s first ever Doors to the Past Art Exhibit & Silent Auction is up and running, with artists bringing their finished works to the Museum and more on the way.

Artists Carlene Toy, Corey W. Collins, Deb Peorio, Dixie Clare, JoAnn Kincaide, Jon Zimmer, Kelly Morgan, Noel Wallace, Rod Sutton, Tricia Smith and William Lancaster are hard at work for this most unique event.

“The variety of mediums we are seeing is just awesome,” said Museum Archivist Melissa Trenary.

Indeed, each of the participating artists are coming up with great ideas, from coat racks to actual useable doors to sculpted works of art to scenic painted panoramas.

The completed works are being sold via a silent auction, with beginning bids ranging from $225 to $1,000. From now to Sept. 26, purchasers may bid on the pieces by inquiring at the Museum Gift Shop. The artists will have until Sept. 22 to finish their pieces and bring them to the museum, where they will be put on display throughout the grounds.

Then on Sept. 26 the museum will host an Artist’s Reception and the last evening at the Museum beginning at 5 p.m. in the Art Gallery behind the Gift Shop. The reception is open and free to the public. Come visit with the artists about their work while enjoying snacks and beverages. The silent auction ends at 7:30 p.m., with the festivities continuing until 9 p.m.
