You’re playing Texas Hold-em and you get four of a kind. Great hand. You bet.

After all, what’s the worst that could happen? That some other player is going to draw a straight flush?

That’s exactly what happened Nov. 17 at Ameristar Casino Resort Spa Black Hawk Poker Room, an Ameristar official said.

The primary bad beat hit.

There was Al from Evergreen, sitting pretty with four of a kind.

And at another chair, there was Donald from Aurora, sitting prettier with a straight flush.

Ordinarily, Al from Evergreen, would have lost.

Instead, because of the bad beat, Al from Evergreen took home the green with his four of a kind.

Al had the winning hand in bad beat, worth $300,000 cash.

Donald from Aurora had the second best hand with his straight flush – good for $225,000 cash.

Eight other lucky winners at the table walked away with $28,125 each.

There are still more winners to come: Ameristar’s new Primary Bad Beat is at $750,000 and the Secondary Bad Beat is waiting to be hit at $749,650.
