Julie Erholm, Canyon Casino

The attractive lady in the cashier’s cage on the Plateau side of the Canyon Casino is Julie Erholm. She acquired the unusual Swedish name when she married Steve, who is now an Arvada Police officer. She’s filled many roles in her life, but likes where she is now as she balances work, marriage and motherhood.

Erholm’s a Colorado native, was born in Colorado Springs and raised in Arvada. She’s always lived in the Centennial State except for a few years in Pennsylvania. However, don’t think she hasn’t seen the rest of our country; she used to work as a flight attendant for different two airlines.

The call of the wild blue yonder lured her from college – Metro State and the University of Northern Colorado – before she completed her classes to become a certified teacher. When she flew with United Airlines she was based in Newark, N.J., and when she flew with Continental she was based out of Houston, Texas. Both those “home” cities made life problematic for newlyweds, and she decided to quit working as a flight attendant and come back home.

Day one of gambling on Oct. 1, 1991, was also day one for Erholm in the casino business. After taking five years off to work in metro Denver, she came back.

“I like the work. I like the people contact. In my job in Denver I worked in a cubicle,” Erholm said about working in the casino industry.

She’s currently celebrating her third-year anniversary at the Canyon.

Julie and Steve Erholm have a 10-year-old daughter who plays violin and volleyball and also sings in a choir. Between her job and her daughter’s schedule, Erholm doesn’t have much spare time, but she enjoys gambling and sports, particularly watching the Denver Broncos. One of her treasured memories is meeting John Elway at a Trisha Yearwood concert – and better yet, talking with him.

Head up to Canyon and go say hi to July in the cashier’s cage – she’ll be happy to help you!
