The Canyon Casino is the perfect size – big enough to have all the games possible – craps, roulette, blackjack, poker and slots – yet small enough that everyone knows your name. Now they’ve added another big reason to play at the Canyon: A chance to win a 2011 Ford Mustang. The sleek vehicle has garnered positive reviews and she is a beauty.
Canyon Club members will receive an entry ticket for each 100 points they earn, up to 10 tickets per day. Tickets must be dropped into the barrel by 6:45 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 30, for a chance to spin and win on the Winner’s Wheel drawing, beginning at 7 p.m.

Extra enticements in August include Triple Points every Wednesday on the second floor and the Connoisseur’s Club promotion every Tuesday and Thursday when guests who are older than 50 earn Double Points and 50 percent off vouchers in the Canyon Grille.
One of the pleasures of the Canyon Grille is Sheridan Mann. You’ve seen her wide smile before, welcoming you to the restaurant. This Food & Beverage manager knows her restaurant and casino business. It’s no exaggeration to say Mann grew up in the restaurant business. Her mother was manager of a restaurant in Central City where Mann began bussing tables at the age of 8. Soon she joined her sisters in working at Bill Lorenz’s Black Forest Inn in Black Hawk. Working in local tourist-oriented businesses such as the Lost Gold Mine and soda jerking in the pharmacy in Central City brought her to the casino era in Gilpin County. She helped open the Teller House Casino for Tivolino and the Glory Hole Casino, both now long-gone from the Central City landscape. After the Glory Hole closed, she came to the Canyon, where she’s been either manager of the Canyon Grille or F&B manager for about 10 years now. You’re in good hands with Mann.
Speaking of the Canyon Grille, this popular spot is known for its monthly specials. August specials are taco salad on Mondays, turkey wraps on Wednesdays and grilled chicken or fish on Fridays, all for only $2.99 with a Canyon Club card. Sunday’s special is the Beef Rib Plate for only $7.99 with a Canyon Club card.
DJ Amazing Anthony is bringing down the house every Friday night in August. Beginning at 8 p.m., Amazing Anthony is spinning great tunes and giving away prizes until midnight. Don’t miss all this excitement, nostalgia and plain fun.
