Cari, a blackjack dealer and table games pit area supervisor, proudly says she’s been at Johnny Z’s Casino in Central City since it opened in early June 2010. Johnny Z’s is the newest – and glitziest – casino to open in the historic gaming town in more than four years.
Johnny Z’s was recently voted Denver’s 7’s A-List Best Casino of 2010. Cari’s own opinion about Johnny Z’s complements its “Best Casino” rave review. She said, “I love it” about working at the casino.
Cari moved to Denver about 15 years ago from Cheyenne, and now lives “down the hill” in Westminster. She doesn’t mind the commute four days a week to her job. Cari enthusiastically remarks that Johnny Z’s has “such a nice atmosphere,” her bosses are great and it’s the best casino she’s ever worked in.
What does Cari like best about her job as a blackjack card dealer? She said it’s exciting and she enjoys having fun working with casino guests. What are the qualities Cari recommends that aspiring blackjack dealers develop? “Be good with your hands and be good with people.”
Cari said successful card dealers can develop a loyal following among their casino guests. As an experienced blackjack dealer and having worked in another casino in the area, Cari brought her own loyal customers to Johnny Z’s when she joined their staff.
