Casino Profile — Canyon’s Fueston puts a smile on guests’ faces even with his short hair

Jeff Fueston recently returned to work at Canyon Casino in Black Hawk after a vacation to his hometown in Lebanon, Ohio, sporting a new haircut. As soon as he returned to work his regulars or guests at the casino teased him about his new look, saying they really liked it.

As a member of the friendly staff at Canyon, Jeff likes spending part of his time meeting and talking to guests. He makes sure they have an extremely enjoyable time while they’re visiting the casino. Jeff is a long-time Canyon employee of more than 12 years; he started in the surveillance department and now works as a lead porter.

The beauty of Colorado’s majestic mountains first brought Jeff and his family to the Denver area and they eventually moved to a cozy “cabin in the trees” in Conifer. He loves living in the mountains and doesn’t mind the short commute to work in Black Hawk, as he doesn’t have to leave his beloved mountains at all.

Jeff supports local Black Hawk and Central City businesses when he can, having donated furniture and other items to Ermil’s Thrift Shop in Central City several times. He’s also a big supporter of Colorado Gambler and said about its weekly delivery, “We all look out for it and whoever sees it first calls the others on the radio.” Jeff looks forward to reading a new issue each week, especially the horoscope section. Halloween is right around the corner and during the weekend from Friday, Oct. 29, to Sunday, Oct. 31, most of Canyon Casino’s employees will be dressed in frightful costumes—for the delight of their guests. That Friday, DJ Amazing Anthony will be spinnin’ tunes on the casino’s main floor from 8 p.m. to midnight. Come in costume, play 20 points and receive $10.
