Purchase passes now for the second annual Gilpin County Film Festival, presented by the Denver Film Society, on Saturday, July 31, in historic Central City venues including the renowned Central City Opera House.
The 2010 Gilpin County Film Festival supports two of Colorado’s treasured institutions – Central City Opera and the Gilpin Historical Society – and includes a collection of films. View a sneak preview of an internationally acclaimed opera film never before seen in the United States, and David Hockney: The Colors of Music, a rare and intimate portrait of one of the most popular and influential artists of the 20th century. The festival also features rarely seen silent films shot in Colorado and a new historic documentary by celebrated Colorado filmmaker Jim Havey.
A general festival pass costs $18 and includes assured seating for the feature film, an advanced screening of an acclaimed opera film that will be shown in the historic Central City Opera House. Also included, on a first come, first served basis is David Hockney: The Colors of Music shown in the Gilpin County Courthouse; Lecture and Silent Film Montage with Film Historian and Producer David Emrich and Denver Union Station: Portal to Progress, a new historical documentary featuring a special forward by Havey. Both historic film sessions will be shown in the exclusive Williams Stables black box theater not normally accessible to the general public.
A VIP festival pass costs $40 and includes assured reserved seating for the feature film, an advanced screening of an acclaimed opera film, as well as priority seating for all other event screenings.
