It was blustery and wintery in Central City last weekend. Seasonal conditions did not deter the loyal patrons of Fortune Valley Hotel & Casino in Central City from attending Fortune’s car drawing for a brand-new, 2010 Ford Escape SUV on Jan. 22, at 10:15 p.m. The casino’s parking lot was full and while guests gambled or eagerly waited for the drawing, they were entertained with wonderful live music performed by The New Classics band.
The drawing started a bit late as guests were still lined up at 10:15 p.m. to get their entries in for the car drawing. Fortune’s announcer, Michael, asked the audience who wanted to win and everyone enthusiastically responded with a loud whoo-hoo.
The announcer wished everyone good luck and with a real drum roll provided by the band, everyone in the casino counted down from 10 to 1. At the end of the countdown, a winner for the car was selected in a virtual drawing. Beverly S. was randomly selected as the winner and she had 90 seconds to appear at the Fun & Fortune Center desk to claim her prize.
Beverly and her husband appeared just in the nick of time, running all the way.
Beverly had a huge smile on her face and said, “That’s the biggest thing I’ve ever won in my life!”
She earned her 2,000-plus entries to the drawing by playing her favorite game, video poker. The total number of entries for the drawing was 164,615.
After a short consultation with her husband and Fortune’s staff regarding taxes and other financial considerations, Beverly decided to take the car.
She excitedly said about the Ford Escape drawing, “My husband and I felt like we were gonna win.”
Beverly is a real sweetheart: she decided she was going to trade in the new car she won on a new pick-up truck for her husband. Her husband was pretty excited about that. Later in the evening Beverly and her husband drove back to their home in Longmont thrilled and happy to have been big Fortune Valley winners.
