Get on down to the Teller County Fair, Aug. 4-8

It’s time for the Teller County Fair that will be held at the Cripple Creek Fairgrounds, Aug. 4-8. Several activities will be returning and include an ATV Rodeo, craft fair, rides for the kids, Burger King the long horn steer, as well as Rough Stock Rodeo, Open Jackpot Roping, Equipment Rodeo, Dog Show, Horse Show, Livestock Shows, 4-H and Open Exhibits, Demolition Derby and the Jr. Gymkhana.

This year’s theme, chosen by Teller County 4-H clubs, is Powered by Green. 4-H is celebrating 100 years and has always been “green” with an educational model emphasizing the importance of being sustainable, and creating from “scratch”, using or re-using what is readily available.

There will be good food, fun and lots of family entertainment. Don’t miss the kick-off event – A Tribute to the Eagles on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 7 – 9 p.m. at the fairgrounds.

There are many activities, contests and events going on throughout the weekend. There is an auction of the prize winning baked goods on Friday, Aug. 6, during Family Fun Night that starts at 5 p.m. Proceeds from the auction will go to the Ankrum-Nolan Scholarship Fund. The crowning of 2011 Royalty is scheduled for Saturday night, Aug. 7, starting at 8 p.m.. Fireworks and a dance will follow the crowning from 9 p.m. – midnight.
