Riviera Black Hawk Casino is all about outstanding guest service and satisfaction. It’s about the valet parking attendants washing your car windows and guest service hosts not just providing directions to a place, such as the Riviera’s Buffet or Creekside Deli, but actually walking their guests over to their destination.
No one embodies this guiding standard of excellence better than Gilda Mitchell, a valued Riviera employee of 10 years, who loves working as a casino host. Prior to working at Riviera, Gilda spent 30 years working for the city and county of Denver.
She said, “It’s all about our guests,” and making them comfortable during their casino visit.
There was a moment in 2003 when Riviera made Gilda cry: that was when she was honored as the Employee of the Year. As a casino host she was preparing a balloon bouquet for the unidentified employee to be honored when she was called into a managers’ meeting.
By then Gilda had received several awards for Employee of the Month, but she was shocked to receive the Employee of the Year award from the managers at the meeting. Her reward for such dedicated service to Riviera was $500 and an all-expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas for three days with a guest. Gilda took her daughter with her and they had a blast on the trip.
Stop by Riviera Black Hawk, located at 444 Main Street in Black Hawk, and continue your lucky streak by meeting Gilda, who would love to meet you, as she considers the best part of her job to be meeting guests.
