Royal Welcome — 105th Annual National Western Stock Show underway

by editorial on January 18, 2011

Royalty from the nation’s best: Queen’s Sam Stanke, Miss Rodeo North Dakota from Fargo, N.D.; retired Stock Show trail boss Chuck Sylvester, CSU 59’, showed first steer at Show in 1952, living in LaSalle with wife Roni; Miss Rodeo America McKenzie Haley, South Dakota, student at Black Hills State University; and Miss Rodeo Colorado hailing from Estes Park, Kellsie Purdy, Junior at CSU.

The Grand Champion steer will be displayed at the historic Brown Palace Hotel, Jan. 21.   The “mutton busters” will be riding the husky lambs, the cowboys will be spurring the bulls and broncos, it’s cold outside and it’s time for the Stock Show, a great Denver tradition.

Queens have arrived for the big show and these lovely ladies with elegant boots and personalities were on hand for opening festivities last week, including the Coors Media party.

Tickets and show information can be found at www.NationalWestern.com.
