The Real Deal — Winning practice routines

by editorial on December 14, 2010

When you first start playing poker, there are two specific practice routines that I learned from Mike Caro, the mad genius of poker, that I recommend you try. I think you will find that they give you a good table image and increase your earning power.

The first routine is to join a table and fold the first 20 hands before the flop. That’s right. Fold all 20 hands. Fold aces, kings, AK and every other hand. In addition, accidently on purpose, flip face up a strong hand if you are in the small blind with only the big blind in the pot and still to act. This will create a super-tight image.

After the first routine, the next twenty hands either fold or raise–no calling. This will keep you from calling with those marginal hands that are money losers. Also your tight image will earn you more when you do raise a pot.

Try these and see if you do not improve your profits.
